Inn Caring References & Comments from Innkeepers, Students, & Guests
Innkeeper Comments:
"Howard and Lynda Lerner dba "Inncaring" provided extraordinary
consulting and inn keeping services for our bed and breakfast, The
Patriot House Bed and Breakfast, which is located near Hershey,
Pennsylvania. The breadth of their consulting spanned all facets of bed
and breakfast ownership and management, including advertising and
marketing, facility design, equipment requirements, managing inventory,
food preparation, website design and functionality, personnel
recruitment, and tax and accounting management. In addition to
providing consulting services, Howard and Lynda also managed our B and B
for two months. Their services in this role were again superb.
Gourmet meals, attention to detail, friendliness, cleanliness and
service were highly regarded by our guests. Suffice it to say, that
each of the nine months since we engaged their consulting and
innkeeping services have been record months of sales." Tom & Julie ~ Patriot House Bed & Breakfast, Annville, PA
"We can't express how valuable it was for us to have Howard and
Lynda at our side when we took over as new owners of a very busy nine room
Inn. There is no possible way we could
have made it though our first season without them! Howard taught us to prepare excellent
breakfasts for 18 to 24 guests on a daily basis, all with beautiful
presentations. He also taught us the
skills necessary to efficiently manage all aspects of our food service and
preparation, including managing shopping lists, kitchen organization, menu
planning, and handling dietary restrictions.
Lynda was amazing in her ability to help us navigate the intricacies of our
reservation system, manage our staff, and organize the countless details of the
daily operation of our inn. Both Howard
and Lynda have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. They helped us implement daily systems and
routines for running our inn without missing or forgetting important details,
which was invaluable for us as new innkeepers.
Howard and Lynda were also able to seamlessly transition our old
reservation system to a new one in the middle of a very busy summer without a
glitch...no easy task! Overall, we can't
thank Howard and Lynda enough for all they did for us during our transition to
becoming competent innkeepers." Kara & Dan ~ Country Willows Bed & Breakfast Inn - Ashland, OR
"The best Interim Innkeepers around. The first ones we call when we need to be away from the B&B. They can handle anything."
Gary & Wini ~ Carr Manor - Cripple Creek, CO
"Dynamic and sympathetic team. They replaced me two times at the inn while I was out of the country. They are a valuable pair of innkeepers. The breakfasts were great, and the organization top notch. They even helped me set up a reservation software system during a slow week. I will definitely rehire them!."
Dominique ~ Secret Garden Inn - Santa Barbara, CA
"Thank you so much for all your help and support this year. It has really allowed us to do many personal and business things that are so important to us. You're a great team! We look forward to working with you again."
Mary & Byron~ Oakland Cottage - Asheville, NC
"Lynda & Howard inn sat for our 10 room property while we were out of the country. This was the first time I have EVER been out of town and felt very good about leaving the inn in such good hands. They took very good care of the guests while we were gone, made fabulous meals and understood our reservation software. Understanding the software was a MAJOR help, as I did not have to spend endless hours explaining it to them prior to leaving town. I would definitely use Lynda and Howard again and strongly recommend them to others. Thank you for taking such good care of the house and guests!"
Megan ~ The Ogé House - San Antonio, TX
We appreciate your coming a long way to manage our inn for us. You both are a professional team. Our property has it's challenges, but you adjusted to it well."
Bob & Karen ~ Hanford House - Sutter Creek, CA
Student Comments:
We both wanted to let you, and any future students, know what a
great experience we had with our hands on interim innkeeping training class . As we were contemplating
whether or not a training class was really THAT important to getting
started in the Innsitting business, we also wondered why in the world it
would take 4 days to train. Little did we know how much information and
actual hands on training there was that we could not have possible
taught ourselves even if we had read, studied and trained on our own. You two were non-stop teaching machines! We originally had compared your training program with other 2 day
classes and after speaking with the two of you about all that we would
cover we knew we would need the extra time. What a great decision! We
felt our time and money was well spent and now we feel equipped to
pursue our next step towards our new business. Thank you so much for
giving us the knowledge and the confidence to move forward in our new
goal! Also, we wanted to say how much we grew to care for and appreciate you both, who we feel genuinely care about us succeeding.
We could tell you have a real passion for training and have assured us
that you will be there for us even now that our class time has ended. We will be happy to encourage others to go ahead and make the step
if they are considering your class. It was a great decision for us and
we are thankful we did! Cathy and Durell, GA
Thank you for the time and attention you gave me in the interim
innkeeper class. I was amazed at all the information we covered. The
"hands on" at the inn was critical to validating what was in the course
material. Four days at a minimum is what you need to review what you
shared. I don't know how you could work through all the information in a
shorter class. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It has
given me a lot to consider as I look at all that is involved in taking
the step to set up my own business. Ellen, MA
Your advise and comments were clearly from people that truly want to
share their long time experience to help us make a running start with
our own Bed & Breakfast. Of course we will let you know of our
progress and if anything thing might come up, rest assured, we will not
hesitate to ask you. Donald & Vivian, Haiti
It was truly a pleasure spending 6 days with you in your Combo Class, learning everything there is to know about innkeeping. I had an unforgetable and wonderful experience. I can't wait to get started. Sherrie Sheldon, AZ
"What a FABULOUS four days!! We could not be happier with the Interim Innkeeper class and with the added bonus of meeting both of you. Your caring, warmth, willingness to share all the ups and downs of interim innkeeping will never be forgotten. We feel we have the tools to actually do a really professional job of inn sitting for someone. We're sure that we will make some mistakes, but knowing you are on the other end of the phone line gives us the confidence to "strike out" on our own! Jean & Cope, MS
"We just wanted to let you know that your class for Interim Innkeepers was all that we hoped it would be and more. The hands on experience of preparing a "typical" breakfast was invaluable. Most people think of just frying up some bacon and eggs as breakfast but we learned that for the Bed and Breakfast industry breakfast is so much more. This kind of instruction along with the wealth of day to day business from reservations to laundry was invaluable. It is obvious that you guys are seasoned professionals and we enjoyed getting to know you." Priscilla & Duane Johnson, TX
"Thank you so much for all you have done for the Casa del Galivan. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your time, patience, and effort in working with our new innkeepers to prepare them for their new duties. I realize this wasn't a normal situation for you and that you went far out of your way to accommodate us and our situation. Your course was nothing short of amazing and I feel very fortunate to have been able to sit in for some of it. The instruction is fast-paced, very detailed, and absolutely invaluable to the proper care and operation of an inn. I simply can't imagine any part of innkeeping that wasn't thoroughly addressed. Thank you so very much for all you've done for us". I know I can call on your expertise if our new innkeepers have any questions. Dave Emery, NM
"Well, your very informative, well-organized Interim Inn Keeping Seminar provided us with all the information to be well organized! It was packed with helpful tips and advanced planning notes. The information and handouts furnished will be our guide as we plan for our own Inn Keeping business. We were extremely impressed with the marketing skills area and methods presented. The ideas and tips contained in the seminar enlarged the scope of what we thought Interim Innkeeping was all about. We never dreamed we could learn so much about food preparation/serving and housekeeping!" Sue & Ed Payne, PA
"I knew from the first time I talked to you that your class would be just the right fit for us and I was right! I liked the mix of didactic and hands on experience in such a relaxing atmosphere. I appreciated how we were so quickly doing the work, greeting guests, doing house tours, making reservations, preparing breakfast, cleaning, etc. You presented so much useful information with such attention to detail." Michelle & Dirk Bliss, IA
"How do you sum up such a thoroughly enjoyable and educational experience as your workshop for Aspiring and Interim Innkeepers? In a word More, more than we hoped for, more than we thought possible. More importantly, we did not imagine that as instructors you would be as passionate and professional regarding the bed & breakfast industry." Thank you for combining a customized, hands-on curriculum that left us fully equipped to get our interim inn keeping business started while we continue to look for our own property. Your course left no question unanswered regarding the many details involved in purchasing, managing and maintaining a bed and breakfast. While some people operate these businesses as a hobby, your ten years of experience as B & B owners and your invaluable marketing expertise has given us the confidence to know we can run a profitable business. We are already asking more informed questions and finding it easier to ascertain what makes good business sense from the prospects we have come across." Lisa Corwin & Fanny Mandelberger, FL

"The "innkeepers" Lynda and Howard, were very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed their warm hospitality and wonderful breakfasts! Lynda and Howard gave us some good tips on how to find and what to look for in a "B&B" wherever we travel. They seemed to be very proud to be a part of your B&B, even if only for a short time. Your "inn" really gave us a warm feeling of wanting to be back "home" after hours of casino noise each evening!!" Susan, Longmont, CO
"Thank you for the elegant treatment! It's real easy (and truthful) to recommend the best." Mr. & Mrs. Ruiz - Durham, NC
"We don't consider ourselves 'B & B' people, but our congenial hosts, Lynda & Howard, may have launched us on a new way to travel. Many thanks for your help and suggestions." Fred & Ellen - Los Angeles, CA
"Thank you so much for your charm, warmth, pleasant conversation, and grace under fire. You both deserve a B&B Innkeeper's highest award - 5 gold stars for the composure you displayed yesterday during the plumbing crisis. I doubt that I could have stayed in my role as gracious host faced with the challenges you faced yesterday! Thank-you." Irwin, MO
